About the Photographer

Hello, I’m Nichole! On this journey of living, I’ve discovered that I adore the window that cameras provide.

Photography helps us crystallize what matters to us; it helps us remember. Working with the camera is one of my favorite things for this reason. I aim to help others creatively capture cherished memories of Family, Business, Love, Friendship, and Community.

Of Life.

I desire to share my photographic and creative skills with Des Moines, and the wider world. Perhaps with you and those you care for. It is a sincere joy to share my love for photography and documentation of life’s moments with all who have interest.

My life’s journey began in Little Rock, Arkansas. I grew there for over 30 years. Eventually I had the chance to expand my creative skills by working with a NBC and FOX affiliate TV station in Central Arkansas: NBC 4 and FOX 16. While there, I learned much working in studio as a camera operator, and later as a promotions producer. Not only was I working daily with a camera, but also conceptualizing ideas, writing scripts, and editing entire commercials for our news team and local businesses. My technical and creative knowledge evolved as I worked with award winning talent, myself earning a Mid-America Emmy nomination in 2017.

The name of my business, Joie de Nic is borrowed from the French phrase “Joie de Vivre”. It translates to a chief sentiment of mine…the joy of living.  It reflects the joy I hold as a woman, a wife, a mother, creative, and photographer.

Joie de Nic is simply the Joy of Nichole.

I’d love the opportunity to share my Joy with you!
